New Milford Competition tonight!
Come cheer on our Blue Knights at New Milford High School. Our performance is at 8:05pm. Full details and links can be found here. Go Blue Knights!

MOTK Bear-Gram Pre-Sale!
It is a long standing tradition that each year the SHS Band Backers sell Bear Grams (a teddy bear with a personalized message given to a band/color guard student) for one of Connecticut state's largest High School Marching Band competitions, Music Of The Knight (MOTK). Bear grams are a great way for us to tell our band/color guard students how much we appreciate their efforts! This year we will be offering an opportunity to pre-order your student's bear! There are two options: a 2016 BKMB "Rise of the Machines" theme bear, or a bear wearing a t-shirt with a logo and the year. There is a limited number of bears and they are available on a first come, first serve basis. Each bear costs only $10 and are 12" tall! The bears will be distributed to the students after their performance at MOTK, 10/22/16. Click here for information. Order your bear at drop-off outside SHS on: Monday, 9/26/16 @ 5:30-6pm or Wednesday, 9/28/16 @ 5:30-6pm. Contact Christie Bauer for all bear related questions at webauers@att.net.

MOTK Volunteers Needed!
Music of the Knight (MOTK) is on of Connecticut's largest band competitions and it's happening right here, in Southington on October 22! The competition will not be successful without the help of our parent volunteers. As we Bandbakers say, "Many hands make light work." So, if you haven't signed up to volunteer yet, please consider setting aside a few hours of your time that day. We have many opportunities for volunteers! Information/sign up sheets can be found here.

Forms:  Did you (or your student) misplace forms? Never fear! All the forms are posted on the ===>forms page<=== as we we get them!

BKMB History
Laura Shaw is working on a History of the Marching Band and Southington Music Program. She is looking for any information you may have; pictures, recordings, fundraiser flyers, etc. She has a lot of stuff from 1999 to the present, so anything before that would be awesome. She especially wants things played for marching band and orchestra, special events, trips, and odd and interesting stuff like selling cleaning products as a fundraiser..yeah they did that! Send anything you have to Lbshaw1@cox.net.

Next Band Backer General Meeting is September 21
We will have a General Band Backer meeting Sept 21st at 7:30pm in room C301. Minutes from the August 25, 2016 meeting are available by clicking THIS LINK.
This is where upcoming fundraisers and band events are discussed. Want to know more? Stop by!!!

Yard Signs
Following the lead of many other organizations and teams at the high school we have designed a lawn sign. This sign will allow you, your family, and neighbors the ability to show their support for the Marching Band. Here is the design we have come up with:

These are two sided 18 X 24 inch signs and cost $20 each. If you are still looking to purchase one, contact Tisha and Eric Semmel at esemmel@cox.net.

Band Backer Legacy Supporter Program: Once a Band Backer always a Band Backer
As someone who believes that a quality music program is something we need to preserve and continue to strengthen, what better community to reach out to then former Southington Band Backers and their families! You know first-hand what Southington's music program has done for your children. You know how lucky we are to have such a dedicated group of Music Educators in our town. You know that the Southington Band Backer organization's purpose is to strengthen and support the music programs in our schools. Your children may have moved on to bigger things but it's important to remember how they got there. With that spirit in mind we have a new opportunity for past Band Backers and their family's to continue to support and strengthen the Southington Music program for years to come. With an annual donation to the Southington Band Backers, a 501c3 charity, you will be listed as a Band Backer Legacy Supporter in the Music of the Knight Program Guide and receive 2 MOTK tickets as our thank you. You may choose from three Support levels. Bronze Level $100, Silver Level $200, and Gold Level $300. You know how important these programs are; please consider being a part of the sound for as long as you can. For more information or to pledge your support please contact Erik Semmel at esemmel@cox.net. Your charitable pledge of support will be billed to you automatically in July just before the marching band season begins.
